My husband and I were in the market for a room dehumidifier and were delighted to find out that they don't all have big dials and clunky designs. This unit has a sleek (although basic) design that is both easy to use and super effective.
We brought this to our house in Hawaii and were amazed that it was able to pull close to 40 pints of moisture from the air in 24 hours. The water bucket was easily removable and an indicator tells you when it's time to empty the bucket (and turns off once it's full). This dehumidifier comes with automatic humidistat control, which cycled the unit on and off depending on whether the room had reached the desired humidity level. We're very pleased with this unit given the price.

I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly for my downstairs and wanted one quiet enough for use in my bedroom upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. Honestly, my refrigerator is louder. The last I purchased removed lots of water, but it can be heard throughout the house when it was running. So i only used it when needed. The NewAir is super quiet. I often walk by it to make sure its on.
The NewAir works great in all weather conditioners . Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Newair AD 400 to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, dehumidifier that works well without with out excess noise.
